Spring Training 2012: Dodgers Claim Matt Angle From Baltimore Orioles

The Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday claimed outfielder Matt Angle from the Baltimore Orioles. Angle, 26, saw his first taste of major league action last year, hitting .177/.293/.266 in 95 plate appearances with 11 stolen bases (in 12 attempts) in 31 games.

Angle hit his first big league home run off of Justin Verlander on September 24. The outfielder hit .271/.347/.344 with 27 steals at Triple A Norfolk last season. Angle has two option years remaining.

To make room for Angle on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers placed pitcher Rubby De La Rosa on the 60-day disabled list. De La Rosa is recovering from Tommy John surgery and not expected back until after the All-Star break.

In another roster move on Thursday, right-handed pitcher Jose Ascanio failed his physical and has left Dodgers camp. He signed a minor league deal and was a non-roster invitee to big league camp.
