Jim Cowsert-US PRESSWIRE

The Dodgers have been active in the opening weeks of the offseason. The hot stove is starting to heat up.

The Los Angeles Dodgers finally have a new ownership group in place and are looking to spend money. The club has been busy in the opening weeks of the offseason, and now news has come that they will not trade outfielder Andre Ethier.

According to Ken Rosenthal, the club was considering dealing the left-handed slugger to clear up a spot in their crowded outfield. That is no longer the case.

Rosenthal also reported that free agent Torii Hunter could be a fit with the Dodgers, although there will be a few hurdles to overcome. Hunter, 37, is coming off one of the best seasons of his career and will likely be looking for a starting job somewhere. Between Ethier, Matt Kemp and Carl Crawford, it seems unlikely Hunter would be anything more than a fourth outfielder. He may not want to settle for that despite his close relationship with Kemp and Crawford.

On Saturday, the Dodgers also received the bidding rights to left-handed pitcher Ryu-Hyun Jin for $25.7 million. The team now has 30 days to reach a contract agreement.
