Dodgers Vs. Padres: Kershaw, Loney Lead L.A. To 4-1 Win

Clayton Kershaw continued his run at the National League Cy Young Award on Monday night, pitching a complete game as the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the San Diego Padres 5-1 in the opening game of a three-game series at Dodger Stadium. Kershaw struck out five in the win, tying his career high of 212 set last season.

Kershaw now has five complete games this season and pushed his season record to 17-5 with a 2.45 ERA. In his last 13 starts, Kershaw is 11-2 with a 1.55 ERA. He allowed just one run on six hits and walked two on the night. The Padres' only run came on a pair of doubles, by Orlando Hudson and Nick Hundley, in the top of the fourth inning.

James Loney continued his rise from the ashes with a home run and a double on the night. Loney has three home runs in his last four games and during his eight-game hitting streak is hitting .514/.541/1.000 with five doubles and four home runs. He has driven in at least one run in six straight games.

Andre Ethier returned to the starting lineup on Monday and had three hits, including a double.
