The Dodgers are 8-8 against the Rockies this season.
The Los Angeles Dodgers won their fourth straight game Friday night, defeating the Colorado Rockies 6-1 in the opener of a three-game series at Dodger Stadium. The Dodgers rallied for six runs in the sixth inning, capped off by Matt Kemp hitting his 30th home run of the season. Ted Lilly pitched seven strong innings for the win.
Kemp became the second Dodger ever to have 30 home runs and 30 steals in the same season, joining Raul Mondesi, who accomplished the feat in both 1997 and 1999. Kemp has 30 home runs and 33 stolen bases on the season in 130 games. Kemp reached the 30/30 club in the 11th fewest games in MLB history.
The Dodgers scored their first run of the night when Esmil Rogers was called for a balk with two outs in the seventh inning. Aaron Miles, who was dancing up and down the third base line, was able to distract Rogers enough to bring home the tying run. Justin Sellers hit a two-run single to give the Dodgers a 3-1 lead, and then scored when James Loney hit a towering home run off Matt Reynolds to widen the Dodger lead.
Lilly allowed one run in seven innings for his first win of August despite a 2.20 ERA for the month.

The Los Angeles Dodgers look for their fourth straight win on Friday night, beginning a six-game homestand with a weekend series with the Colorado Rockies at Dodger Stadium. The Dodgers are coming off their only road sweep of the season, winning all three games in St. Louis earlier this week. The Rockies beat the Dodgers in two out of three games last weekend at Coors Field in Denver.
Ted Lilly gets the start for the Dodgers after leaving his start Saturday in Denver with a stiff neck. Lilly decided to try a new form of treatment, from team acupuncturist Ichiro Tani, and Lilly took a liking to it. "I've had [treatment] the last couple of days and I noticed it as soon as I got off the table. It's hard to think it's from anything else. I had more movement after being so locked up," Lilly told Ken Gurnick of MLB.com.
Lilly's mound opponent Friday night in Los Angeles is the same as last Saturday in Denver. Esmil Rogers came into last Saturday's start at Coors Field with a 6.00 ERA, and the Dodgers made sure he kept it, allowing four runs in six innings. However, the Dodgers had the chance to knock Rogers out earlier in a game they would eventually lose in 13 innings. But that game wasn't televised, so it doesn't really count. Right?
Legendary television personality and long-time game show host Bob Eubanks will throw out a ceremonial first pitch before Friday's game. Eubanks was a promoter with KRLA radio responsible for bringing The Beatles to Dodger Stadium in 1966. The 45th anniversary of that concert is Sunday.

Vin Scully Announces Return To Dodgers In 2012
In what in many ways has been a down season for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Friday night provided a high point. Legendary broadcaster Vin Scully, who has been calling Dodgers games since 1950, announced Friday that he would return to the Dodgers for an unprecedented 63rd season in 2012. Scully made the announcement during the Prime Ticket broadcast of the Dodgers' game with the Colorado Rockies.
"I don’t want to make a big deal out of it, you and I have been friends for a long time," Scully said. "But after a lot of soul searching and a few prayers, we’ve decided that we will come back with the Dodgers for next year. God’s been awfully good to me, allowing me to do the things I love to do. I asked him one more year at least and he said okay."
Scully has had a baseball announcing career unlike any other. He has called three perfect games and 19 no-hitters, and been behind the microphone for 25 World Series and 12 All-Star Games. He was named to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1982.
