Dodgers Open Six-Game Homestand With Weekend Series Against Rockies

The Dodgers are 7-8 against the Rockies this season.

Aug 26, 2011 - The Los Angeles Dodgers look for their fourth straight win on Friday night, beginning a six-game homestand with a weekend series with the Colorado Rockies at Dodger Stadium. The Dodgers are coming off their only road sweep of the season, winning all three games in St. Louis earlier this week. The Rockies beat the Dodgers in two out of three games last weekend at Coors Field in Denver.

Ted Lilly gets the start for the Dodgers after leaving his start Saturday in Denver with a stiff neck. Lilly decided to try a new form of treatment, from team acupuncturist Ichiro Tani, and Lilly took a liking to it. "I've had [treatment] the last couple of days and I noticed it as soon as I got off the table. It's hard to think it's from anything else. I had more movement after being so locked up," Lilly told Ken Gurnick of MLB.com.

Lilly's mound opponent Friday night in Los Angeles is the same as last Saturday in Denver. Esmil Rogers came into last Saturday's start at Coors Field with a 6.00 ERA, and the Dodgers made sure he kept it, allowing four runs in six innings. However, the Dodgers had the chance to knock Rogers out earlier in a game they would eventually lose in 13 innings. But that game wasn't televised, so it doesn't really count. Right?

Legendary television personality and long-time game show host Bob Eubanks will throw out a ceremonial first pitch before Friday's game. Eubanks was a promoter with KRLA radio responsible for bringing The Beatles to Dodger Stadium in 1966. The 45th anniversary of that concert is Sunday.

Friday's 7:10 p.m. PDT game will be televised by Prime Ticket. For more news and information on the Dodgers, be sure to read True Blue LA.
