Mark Kotsay Walk-Off Single Lifts Brewers Over Dodgers 2-1

Mark Kotsay hit a bases-loaded single to center field off Mike MacDougal, giving the Milwaukee Brewers a 2-1 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday night at Miller Park. After a pitchers' duel between Chad Billingsley and Yovani Gallardo, the relief duo of Hong-Chih Kuo and MacDougal could not get it done for the Dodgers in the bottom of the ninth inning. Kuo and MacDougal faced four batters in the final frame and did not record an out.

Billingsley was shaky in the first two innings, allowing two hits and two walks, but just one run. He threw 45 pitches in the opening two innings, but then rebounded to throw just 48 pitches over his final five innings. Billingsley retired 18 of the final 19 batters he faced.

Gallardo allowed one run in eight innings, striking out nine for Milwaukee. Ex-Dodger Takashi Saito pinched a scoreless ninth inning for his fourth win of the season. Ryan Braun had two hits for the Brewers.

Matt Kemp stole his 32nd base tonight, a swipe of second in the second inning. He scored on a ground ball single by Aaron Miles, then the Brewers tied the game in the bottom of the inning on an RBI groundout by Corey Hart.

Nathan Eovaldi starts for the Dodgers on Wednesday, facing Zack Greinke for Milwaukee.
