Daniel Hudson Leads Diamondbacks Over Dodgers, 4-1

Daniel Hudson did it all Sunday afternoon, leading the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 4-1 win over the Dodgers in the series finale at Chase Field in Phoenix. Hudson threw a complete game, picking up his 10th win of the season, but also excelled at the plate. Hudson hit a solo home run in the sixth inning, then added a two-run single in the seventh to put the game away.

Ted Lilly was pitching a good game through six innings, at least outside of the home run allowed to Hudson. He had allowed two runs, both solo home runs, in six innings, striking out nine and walking none. Lilly allowed a leadoff single in the seventh to Chris Young, then left with two outs after two intentional walks. Hudson delivered his two-run single off reliever Blake Hawksworth, improving his bases loaded numbers in his career to 5-for-7 with 10 RBI in his career.

Kemp singled in the seventh inning and later scored on a wild pitch. It was the only run the Dodgers would score on the day. This series featured a pair of struggling right fielders, as Andre Ethier went 0-for-12 and Justin Upton was 0-for-11. The Dodgers travel to San Francisco for a three-game set against the Giants beginning Monday night.
