Dodgers Outlast Rockies, 11-7

Denver, CO (Sports Network) - Jamey Carroll and Aaron Miles sparked the offense, posting identical four-hit, two-RBI performances, but it was Tony Gwynn Jr. who made a diving catch to secure Los Angeles' 11-7 victory over the Rockies at Coors Field. The Dodgers entered the eighth with a seemingly comfortable 7-1 lead. But Colorado mounted a furious comeback, scoring five runs in an inning for the third straight game. Los Angeles then countered with a four-spot before the Rockies brought the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the ninth.

With the bases loaded, Charlie Blackmon lined the first pitch he saw from Javy Guerra to left field. Gwynn chased it down and made an unbelievable grab to deny the Rockies' rookie outfielder of extra bases.

Matt Kemp, Dodgers Look For First Win At Coors Field This Season

The Dodgers again look for their first win this season at Coors Field, and look to snap a three-game losing streak in the process facing the Rockies Saturday night in Colorado. Matt Kemp was out of Friday's starting lineup with a tight left hamstring, but still launched a 458-foot home run as a pinch hitter in the ninth inning, and Kemp hopes to be in tonight's lineup. Ted Lilly gets the start for the Dodgers, looking to continue his good pitching of late.

Lilly is 4-5 with a 4.13 ERA this season, but in his last four starts has a 2.77 ERA with just two walks and 19 strikeouts in 26 innings. Lilly has only made four starts in his career at Coors Field, but is 2-2 with a 6.41 ERA, allowing 15 runs and 34 baserunners in 19 2/3 innings. The Dodgers are 0-4 at Coors Field this season.

Jason Hammel starts for the Rockies, looking for better success against the Dodgers. He is 1-1 against L.A. this season but has allowed 11 runs in 9 2/3 innings. Against the Dodgers, Hammel's ERA this season is 10.24, but in his other 10 starts it's 2.70.

Rookie Dee Gordon has provided some spark for the Dodgers since his promotion on Monday. He has had two or more hits in three of his four starts, and has seven hits in his first 17 at-bats in the big leagues. He also has no walks and six strikeouts, but Gordon's first week has been exciting to watch.

Tonight's 5:10 p.m. PDT game will be televised by KCAL. For more news and information about the Dodgers, or on tonight's game, be sure to read the SB Nation blog True Blue LA.
