Dodgers Call Up Josh Lindblom From Double A, Place Kenley Jansen On Disabled List

The Dodgers made a roster move before Sunday's series finale with the Marlins, purchasing the contract of relief pitcher Josh Lindblom from Double A Chattanooga. To make room for Lindblom on the active roster, the Dodgers placed reliever Kenley Jansen on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder inflammation. To make room for Lindblom on the 40-man roster, the club designated reliever Travis Schlichting for assignment.

Lindblom was drafted by the Dodgers in the second round in 2008. Lindblom, who turns 24 on June 15, was 1-3 with seven saves and a 2.96 ERA with Double A Chattanooga this season, with 11 walks and 33 strikeouts in 24 1/3 innings. Lindblom nearly made the club out of spring training in 2009, then struggled in Double A and Triple A as the Dodgers attempted to convert him to a starting pitcher, before returning to the bullpen last season.

Jansen is 1-1 with a 6.43 in 20 games this season. He blew a save opportunity Monday night in Houston, allowing three runs to the Astros, then allowed a run in his inning of work on Saturday night against Florida. Jansen is the fifth Dodgers reliever currently on the disabled list. The Dodgers have had 13 players make 16 different trips to the disabled list this season.

Today's 1:10 p.m. PDT game will be televised by Prime Ticket. For more news and information on the Dodgers, or on today's game, be sure to read the SB Nation blog True Blue LA.
