2011 Taiwan All-Star Series: Dodgers, Angels Make the Roster

The offseason for some members of the Dodgers and Angels will be a bit shorter than others this year after Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Association announced the roster Friday for the team of All-Stars traveling to Taiwan this November to square off against the talented Chinese Taipei national team for the 2011 Taiwan All-Star Series.

Erick Aybar and Jeff Mathis will be representing the Angels on the squad, while the Dodgers will be sending pitching coach Rick Honeycutt and equipment manager Mitch Poole. Aybar hit .279 for the Halos this season with 10 dingers and 59 RBI as well as a .322 OBP, while Mathis played in 93 games this season behind the plate, though he hit only .174 with 22 RBI.

As for the Dodgers constituents, Rick Honeycutt has been the Dodgers pitching coach for the last 6 seasons, making him the longest tenured coach for the Boys in Blue. He pitched for the Dodgers from 1983-1987. Mitch Poole has been a part of the Dodgers organization for 27 years now, serving as clubhouse manager for the last eight seasons. He was on international trips with the Dodgers in Mexico in 2003, China in 2008, and Taiwan in 2010, the last time an MLB team headed to Asia for a game.

The trip will consist of five games played between November 1st-6th in three different cities - New Taipei City (XinZhuang Stadium) on November 1st, Taichung (Intercontinental Stadium) on November 3rd and 4th and Kaohsiung (Chengcing Lake Stadium) on November 5th and 6th.
