Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) – Adam LaRoche hit a two-run homer and added an RBI double to help Zach Kroenke to his first major league win, as Arizona held on for a 7-5 victory against the Dodgers to begin a three-game set from Chavez Ravine.
Kroenke (1-0) gave up just two hits and a run over five innings in his first major league start. The left-hander was filling in for the injured Daniel Hudson after appearing in relief twice this month for the Diamondbacks, who were coming off a three-game sweep at the hands of San Francisco.
Matt Kemp homered for a third straight game and knocked in two for Los Angeles, which was coming off a three-game sweep of Colorado. Starter John Ely (4-10) was hammered for seven runs and seven hits in 4 2/3 innings to extend a winless streak to six starts (0-5).
