The Clippers head coach earned the honor after the team went the entire month of December without a loss.

Los Angeles Clippers head coach Vinny Del Negro has been named the Western Conference Coach of the Month for the month of December, according to a team press release on Wednesday.

The Clippers used a perfect 16-0 record in the month to cap a 17-game win streak, a franchise best. During the outstanding month, Los Angeles defeated the Utah Jazz three times, the Chicago Bulls on the road and the Boston Celtics.

Larry Drew of the Atlanta Hawks earned the honor for the Eastern Conference. Among the coaches considered for the award in December were Mark Jackson of the Golden State Warriors, Frank Vogel of the Indiana Pacers, Erik Spoelstra of the Miami Heat, Mike Woodson of the New York Knicks, Scott Brooks of the Oklahoma City Thunder and Terry Stotts of the Portland Trail Blazers.

It was a good day for the Clippers, as Chris Paul earned Western Conference Player of the Month. LeBron James was the Eastern Conference Player of the Month.
