Clippers Vs. Hawks: Blake Griffin, Chris Paul Combine For 70 Points, But L.A. Loses 109-102

Stay connected for news and updates

The Los Angeles Clippers know who they will play in the first round of the NBA playoffs. Now the only question is which team will have home court advantage. The Clippers lost 109-102 Tuesday night in Georgia to the Atlanta Hawks, which clinched the Pacific Division and No. 3 seed in the Pacific Division for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Chris Paul had 34 points, eight assists, and five rebounds for the Clippers, and Blake Griffin scored 36 points and grabbed eight rebounds in defeat for the Clippers (40-25), who shot 50% in the loss.

It was the second straight loss for Los Angeles, who still has a magic number of one to clinch home court advantage over the Memphis Grizzlies (40-25). The Clippers and Grizzlies both have the same record and will play in the first round as the No. 4 and No. 5 seeds, but home court advantage will be determined by the final game for both teams.

The Clippers hold the tiebreaker over Memphis, so if the Clippers can beat the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden Wednesday night they would clinch the No. 4 seed. But should the Clippers lose, then Memphis would have a chance to gain home court advantage and the No. 4 seed with a win Thursday at home against the Orlando Magic.
