Clippers Vs. Wizards: Clippers Destroy Wizards, 122-101

Washington, DC (Sports Network) – Blake Griffin scored all 26 of his points in the first half as the Los Angeles Clippers built — and kept — a big lead on the way to an easy 122-101 victory over Washington.

One night after blowing a 20-point lead and losing to the Nets in overtime, the Clippers went up 19 in the first quarter and held on, bouncing back for their fifth win in six games.

Griffin was scoreless in the third quarter, then sat the entire fourth. He had five rebounds and remains one double-double shy Elton Brand’s single-season Clippers record of 55.

LA didn’t need anything else from him.

Fellow rookie Eric Bledsoe collected 23 points in more than 21 minutes off the bench and Mo Williams had 22 points in the win, which moved the Clippers to 3-1 on five-game road trip that ends Monday in Memphis.

Wizards rookie John Wall scored 25, but his team fell to 1-10 in their last 11 games. Another rookie, Jordan Crawford, had 16 points off the bench and Nick Young scored 15.

Clippers Vs. Wizards: Blake Griffin & John Wall Meet Again

The Los Angeles Clippers are in search of their fifth win in six games tonight as they face the Washington Wizards at Verizon Center in Washington DC. This is the first meeting of the season between the two teams, so it's the first time Blake Griffin will face John Wall. The last two number one overall draft picks are the two favorites for Rookie of the Year -- with Griffin a lock to win the award -- but this isn't the first time they have shared the court this season.

At NBA All-Star weekend in Los Angeles, Griffin and Wall teamed up to lead the rookies to a victory over the sophomores in the Rookie Challenge. Wall and Griffin made beautiful music together, with Wall taking home MVP honors while also feeding Griffin quite often. Griffin had 14 points in the game -- just the start of his full All-Star weekend -- on seven dunks, with none more memorable than this Wall-to-Griffin masterpiece:

Tonight's 4 p.m. PST game will be televised by Prime Ticket.

Clippers Continue Road Trip Facing Lowly Wizards

The Los Angeles Clippers continue their road trip tonight in our nation's capital, facing the Washington Wizards at Verizon Center. The Clippers had their four-game winning streak snapped last night in New Jersey, with a tough overtime loss to the Nets. Blake Griffin had a chance to win the game in regulation, but he missed the second of two free throws, which sent the game into the extra period.

As is expected from a young team, the Clippers have had their ups and downs this season. Their win in Boston this week gave them victories over all six first-place teams this season. But the flip side of that is that the Clippers have also lost to all five last-place teams they have faced. The one last-place team they have yet to face this year is the Wizards.

It took until the 67th game of the season, but this is the Clippers' first game against the Wizards this season. The Clippers have beaten Washington three straight times, sweeping the season series last year. Washington will come to Staples Center on March 23. If it wasn't for Griffin, the Wizards' John Wall would be the favorite for NBA Rookie of the Year. The point guard is averaging 15.5 points per game and 8.8 assists per contest for Washington this season.

While the Clippers have done well at home and miserable on the road, the Wizards take that to the extreme. Washington has won just one of 30 road games this season, but they are 15-18 at home. The Clippers are 18-15 at home and 7-26 on the road, though they are 2-1 on the current road trip. The Wizards have lost 18 of their last 21 games overall.
