Blake Griffin Sets NBA Season High For Points, Clippers Beat Pacers, 114-107

The Los Angeles Clippers continued their stellar play at home, winning their fifth straight game at Staples Center, 114-107 over the Indiana Pacers, but the story once again was Blake Griffin. One day after having his 14-game streak of 20-point, 10-rebound games snapped, Griffin exploded on the Pacers for 47 points and 14 rebounds.

The 47 points not only set a Clippers franchise rookie record for points in a game, but also set an NBA season high for points by anybody:

Player Team Date Points
Blake Griffin LAC Today 47

Monta Ellis GS Jan 5 46
Kevin Martin Hou Dec 29 45

The game was the 27th consecutive double-double for Griffin, also a Clippers franchise record. He made an astonishing 19 of 24 field goal attempts, and is shooting 52.5% on the season. The Clippers backcourt had another good game as well, as Eric Gordon and Baron Davis did their work on the outside while Griffin dominated down low. Gordon scored 23 points, including three shots from distance, and dished out seven assists. Davis hit two three-pointers, scoring 14 points, and handed out a season-high 12 assists. The Clippers next host Minnesota Wednesday night.

Clippers Vs. Pacers: L.A. Looks For Fifth Straight Home Win

(Sports Network) - The Indiana Pacers kick off a four-game western road trip today by visiting Staples Center to take on a resurgent Los Angeles Clippers team that is coming off one of its biggest wins of the season. The Pacers split a brief two-game homestand after falling to Central Division rival Chicago, 99-86, on Friday. Derrick Rose scored a game-high 29 points to go with 10 rebounds and five assists in that one as the Bulls snapped a three- game road losing streak.

Danny Granger led the Pacers with 22 points. Mike Dunleavy made 3-of-6 shots from beyond the arc and ended with 13 points, while Tyler Hansbrough supplied 12 points for the Pacers, who had won their previous two. Darren Collison added 10 points with five rebounds and five assists for the Pacers. "Just wasn't a good enough performance for us tonight," Dunleavy said.

Indiana, which is 6-11 away from home and stopped a nine-game skid away from Conseco Fieldhouse in Philadelphia last Tuesday, will also face Golden State, Portland and Denver on its trip. The Clippers, meanwhile, opened a three-game homestand on Sunday with a 99-92 triumph over their co-tenants at Staples Center, the two-time defending NBA champion Lakers.

Eric Gordon led all scorers with 30 points and rookie Blake Griffin registered his franchise-record 26th straight double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds in that one before getting ejected late in the fourth quarter, as the Clip snapped the Lakers' seven-game winning streak.

With the Clippers up 99-90 and 5.7 seconds remaining, Griffin got tangled up with Lamar Odom after Randy Foye's free throw. Odom grabbed the power forward by the jersey and pushed him out of bounds. After other players got involved, order was quickly restored with no punches being thrown.

Odom, Griffin, the Lakers' Ron Artest and Clippers' Baron Davis were all ejected, however. Griffin's ejection did keep him from reaching 20 points for a 15th straight contest. Davis chipped in 14 points and eight assists, while DeAndre Jordan finished with 15 rebounds to go with eight points for the Clippers, who earned only their third win in the last 14 meetings with the Lakers. The resurgent Clippers have won four of five overall and five straight at home.

The Pacers, who topped the Clips in Indy back on Nov. 18, will be aiming to sweep the home-and-home series against LA for the first time since 2005-06.
