Stay connected for news and updates

The Los Angeles Angels once again dispatched their division rivals the Oakland Athletics with ease on Tuesday night. The Halos picked up the 6-1 win to win the first two games of the three-game series at the O.co Coliseum.

The Angels were finally able to get to starter Jarrod Parker in the fifth inning, when Mike Trout singled home Alberto Callaspo to start the scoring and put the Halos on top first. Callaspo helped out with a sacrifice fly in the sixth to make it 2-0 Los Angeles.

The A's scored a run in the bottom of the seventh on a solo home run from Brandon Moss to cut the lead in half. The Halos answered back in the top of the eighth with a pair of two-out RBI hits from Erick Aybar and Callaspo. Callaspo ended the evening going two-for-three with two RBI.

Kendrys Morales delivered two big insurance runs in the top of the ninth with a two-out double to put the game away.

Starter Zack Greinke held the A's to one run on four hits and two walks in seven innings of work. The Angels will go for the big sweep on Wednesday.
