Angels Vs. Athletics Final Score: Jered Weaver Helps Halos Avoid Sweep With 6-0 Win

The Los Angeles Angels certainly can't be happy about losing an important four-game series at home to the Oakland Athletics, but they are taking plenty of positives away from Thursday afternoon's 6-0 win. Most importantly is that Jered Weaver, who missed a start with an arm injury, looked just as sharp as always as he pitched seven innings of two-hit baseball.

For the bulk of the game, Weaver and Brett Anderson were locked in an intense pitchers' duel. Torii Hunter scored the first run of the game when he led off the bottom of the seventh inning with a home run. The Angels never looked back, plating five more runs in the inning. Those runs came on RBI singles from Mark Trumbo, Alberto Callaspo and Hunter and a wild pitch.

The Angels will need to pick up a bunch of wins in short order, but they managed to finish up this crucial series on a winning note. The Halos are now three games behind the second American League Wild Card spot.
