Angels Vs. Tigers Final Score: Win Streak Snapped With 5-3 Loss

Stay connected for news and updates

The Los Angeles Angels were unable to hold onto an early lead on Saturday, losing the second game of their three-game series to the Detroit Tigers by a final score of 5-3.

Vernon Wells led off the third inning with a home run to get the scoring started and Howie Kendrick added a two-out RBI single later in the inning to give starter Dan Haren a 2-0 lead. Erick Aybar chipped in with an RBI double in the fourth inning to stretch that lead out to 3-0.

The Tigers slowly hammered at the lead, with Delmon Young and Andy Dirks each picking up an RBI hit in the sixth to cut the Angels lead to 3-2. The Angels went to their bullpen, which once again blew the lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. Jhonny Peralta hit a two-run double to put the Tigers ahead, 4-3. Alex Avila then contributed the big insurance run with an RBI single to put the game out of reach.

The Tigers have evened up the series with the win, but the Angels will try to capture the rubber game and the series on Sunday.
