Angels Vs. Rays Game Preview: Jered Weaver Looks To Get Halos Back On Track

Stay connected for news and updates

Jered Weaver takes the mound for the Los Angeles Angels in game two of a four game set against the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday night in Anaheim. Tampa's David Price dominated the Angels on Thursday night, shutting them out and striking out eight in seven innings of work. Now, the Rays will face the Angels' best pitcher at his home ballpark, a place where Weaver is virtually unbeatable.

Weaver suffered his first home loss of his entire season against the Seattle Mariners last week. He is 8-1 with an ERA of 1.23 at home. The Cy Young candidate is leading American League pitchers in both ERA (2.22) and WHIP (0.92).

This series is critical for the Angels if they want to increase their chances at gaining a playoff berth. They are currently 2.5 games back from the Rays and the Baltimore Orioles who are tied for first place in the Wild Card standings.

First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. PT.
