As July winds down and August begins, one would be hard-pressed to imagine a more important series for the Los Angeles Angels than the one that begins on Monday. The Halos will head to Arlington for a four-game series against the first-place Texas Rangers. The Angels took two of three games from the Rangers at the Big A last week ... but that was last week.
The Angels will enter this huge four-game series five games behind the Rangers and are all the way down in third place in the American League West, a half-game behind the surging Oakland Athletics. The Angels could potentially move to within a game of first place with a sweep ... or they could be nine games out by the time they leave town. They've just been shut out twice by the Tampa Bay Rays, so they need their bats to wake up immediately if they don't want to get trampled in Texas.
TV Schedule & Probable Pitchers
Monday's game will begin at 4:05 p.m. PT and will be televised locally on FOX Sports West and nationally on ESPN. You can catch the radio broadcast on KLAA 830. Ervin Santana is 4-10 and has been hit hard lately. He will likely be on a very short leash in the opener. Roy Oswalt gets the start for the Rangers after skipping his last turn in the rotation. He was lights out in his previous two starts.
Tuesday's first pitch will be at 5:05 p.m. PT and the game will be televised on FOX Sports West. You can catch the radio broadcast on KLAA 830. The Halos will get their best pitching matchup in Game 2, as ace Jered Weaver goes for his 14th win against the 7-5 Derek Holland, who has an ERA of nearly 6.00 at the Ballpark in Arlington this year.
Wednesday's game gets going at 5:05 p.m. PT and will be televised on FOX Sports West. You can catch the radio broadcast on KLAA 830. Dan Haren has been fantastic since coming off the disabled list and looks to climb over .500 with his ninth win. He'll take on superstar Yu Darvish, who is looking for his 12th victory.
Thursday's finale will get started at 5:05 p.m. PT and will be televised on FOX Sports West. You can catch the radio broadcast on KLAA 830. C.J. Wilson came up short in his last two attempts at his 10th victory. Perhaps the third time will be the charm. He takes on All-Star left-hander Matt Harrison, who is 0-2 with a 6.23 ERA over his last two starts.
