Angels Activate Catcher Chris Iannetta From Disabled List

Stay connected for news and updates

It has been two and a half months, but Chris Iannetta is finally back on the active roster for the Los Angeles Angels. The catcher was activated from the disabled list on Saturday before the Angels host the Tampa Bay Rays at Angel Stadium in Anaheim.

To make room for Iannetta, the Angels optioned catcher John Hester to Triple A Salt Lake. Hester hit .212/.287/.329 with three home runs in 38 games, starting 27 games.

Iannetta underwent right wrist surgery on May 11, after he was hit by a pitch on May 2 during Jered Weaver's no-hitter against the Minnesota Twins. Iannetta, who was acquired from the Colorado Rockies during the offseason for pitcher Tyler Chatwood, hit just .197/.312/.394 with three home runs in 26 games before getting hurt.

Bobby Wilson gets the start at catcher on Saturday for the Angels, who have won four of their last five games.
