The Los Angeles Angels hosted the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday in the rubber game of a three-game series against their division rivals. It was a wild game that featured a number of lead changes, but ultimately the Halos came up short in the game with an 8-6 loss and dropped the series.
The Mariners struck first, putting up a pair of runs in the top of the second inning on a Mike Carp double. The Angels scored two runs of their own in the bottom of the frame, on an RBI double by Erick Aybar and a sacrifice fly by Hank Conger.
The Halos took a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the third as Kendrys Morales hit his seventh home run of the year. The Mariners tied things up once again in the top of the fifth on a Kyle Seager two-run double, but Morales and Howie Kendrick both had RBI singles in the bottom half of the fifth to reclaim a 6-4 lead.
In the top of the sixth, Ichiro Suzuki hit a two-out RBI single and Seager hit a two-run, two-out single to push the Mariners back into the lead, 7-6. The Mariners tacked on another run in the top of the eighth with a Suzuki home run. The blast was the fourth of the year for Suzuki and gives the right fielder 99 home runs in his career.
Albert Pujols had a pair of doubles in the game, including one that came with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning. Unfortunately, although Pujols advanced to third on a wild pitch, Morales struck out to end the game.
Angels starter Jerome Williams ended his streak of impressive starts, giving up seven runs (five earned) on nine hits over 5.2 innings of work.

The Los Angeles Angels got some good news about ace Jered Weaver on Wednesday as he had his most promising day of rehab yet, extending his long toss to about 300 feet and could be less than a week away from throwing a bullpen session, according to multiple reports.
Per Angels beat writer Mike DiGiovanna on Twitter:
Looking more like #Angels RH Jered Weaver (lower-back strain) will only be out 15 days. Extended long-toss to 300 feet today. Off mound soon
— Mike DiGiovanna (@MikeDiGiovanna) June 6, 2012
Weaver suffered the injury back on May 28, so earliest he could return to the Halos is June 14, just in time for a home series against the Arizona Diamondbacks. He had a 6-1 record and 2.61 ERA in 11 starts before hitting the disabled list.

The Los Angeles Angels needed to rebound from a rough loss to the Seattle Mariners and they did so in fine fashion on Tuesday night, having little trouble with their opponents in a 6-1 win to even the series.
The Angels went up 2-0 in the bottom of the second on back-to-back homers by Mark Trumbo and Torii Hunter. Michael Saunders led off the top of the third with a solo shot for Seattle's only run of the game.
The Angels added two more runs in the bottom of the third on RBI singles by Albert Pujols and Trumbo, then plated their final two in the bottom of the fifth on a two-run shot by Trumbo. Trumbo's two homers give him 12 on the season.
Trumbo was 4-for-4 with four RBI and two runs scored. Pujols was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Mike Trout, surprisingly, was 0-for-3 but did draw a walk.
The Angels will go for the series win in the rubber game on Wednesday. Luckily for the Halos, Seattle ace Felix Hernandez was scratched from his expected Wednesday start with an iffy back.
