Stay connected for news and updates

The Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday announced the signing of UCLA closer Scott Griggs, their eighth round pick in this year's MLB Draft. The signing of the college junior Griggs means the club has signed nine of their top 11 draft picks, with only first round pick SS Corey Seager and second rounder LHP Steven Rodriguez unsigned.

Griggs was 3-1 with a 2.65 ERA in 36 games for the Bruins in 2012, and established a school record with 15 saves. Griggs struck out 64 hitters in 37 1/3 innings, but he also walked 31. Griggs was named a Louisville Slugger Third Team All-American in his junior season.

The Dodgers also announced the signing of 27-year old Cuban catcher Selme Angulo, who was a non-drafted free agent.

The Dodgers have signed 28 of their 41 draft picks.
