Angels Vs. Diamondbacks Final Score: Halos Capture Series With Second Straight 2-0 Win

The Los Angeles Angels won their second straight shutout on Sunday afternoon as they captured an interleague series against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Starting pitcher Garrett Richards continued his strong work filling in for the injured Jered Weaver as he led the Angels to another 2-0 win over the snakes.

Albert Pujols got the Angels on the board as he led off the bottom of the fourth inning with his 10th home run of the year. Mike Trout added an RBI double in the bottom of the seventh for the big insurance run, but Richards made sure the D-backs wouldn't get to home plate.

Richards walked Miguel Montero to lead off the top of the ninth and was replaced by Ernesto Frieri, who set down the next three Arizona batters to finish up the shutout. Richards allowed four hits, four walks and a hit batsman in eight innings while striking out five. Richards is now 2-0 with an ERA of just 0.86.

The Angels will now prepare for their next interleague opponent, as the San Francisco Giants come to town on Monday.

Angels Vs. Diamondbacks Final Score: Ervin Santana Comes Close To Perfection In 2-0 Halos Win

Ervin Santana is one of the most interesting and befuddling pitchers in the major leagues. The Los Angeles Angels starter already has a no-hitter under his belt in his young career, but has had plenty of struggles, including several shaky starts in 2012. During Saturday night's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks at the Big A, Santana flirted with perfection and eventually tossed a complete game 1-hitter in a 2-0 Angels victory.

Santana got all of his run support early, as Mark Trumbo hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the first inning. The shot was Trumbo's 15th of the year and although the Angels picked up 10 hits in the game, that constituted the entirety of the scoring.

Santana set the Diamondbacks down in order until the seventh inning, when Justin Upton hit a two-out single to break up the perfecto as well as the no-no. Santana issued his first walk of the game in the top of the ninth inning when he walked Miguel Montero. Those were his only two baserunners of the evening.

Santana picked up his fourth win with the complete game shutout, striking out five along the way and needing just 102 pitches (61 of which went for strikes).

The Angels have now evened up the three-game interleague series and will go for the series win in the rubber game on Sunday.

Angels Vs. Diamondbacks Final Score: Halos Shut Out In 5-0 Loss

The Los Angeles Angels hosted the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday night in the first game of a three-game interleague series. The Angels were hoping to keep their momentum rolling after taking two of three games in the Freeway Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. While there is still plenty of time left to take this series against the D-backs, the Halos lost on Friday by a final score of 5-0.

Jason Kubel hit an RBI single in the top of the first inning to get the Diamondbacks on the board. Angels starter Dan Haren managed to keep the score at 1-0 until the top of the sixth, when Aaron Hill hit a three-run homer to left field that put Arizona on top by plenty. Ryan Roberts tacked on the insurance run later in the inning with a two-out RBI double.

Arizona starter Trevor Cahill got the win after allowing just three hits and two walks to the Angels in seven innings of work. The Halos managed no baserunners after the seventh inning.

The one-through-five hitters in the Angels lineup were a combined 0-for-19 with a walk by Kendrys Morales.
