Angels Vs. Twins, Game 1 Final Score: Jered Weaver Leads Halos To 8-3 Win

On Monday night, the Los Angeles Angels visited the Minnesota Twins at Target Field to kick off a three-game series. Jered Weaver took the hill for his first start since no-hitting the Twins at the Big A and was once again dominant, allowing just three hits and two walks in six innings of work. He picked up the win in a, 8-3 Halos victory.

Albert Pujols put the Halos on the board first in the top of the first inning, bringing Maicer Izturis home with an RBI groundout. Los Angeles plated two more in the top of the third on an Alberto Callaspo homer. In the top of the fourth, a Peter Bourjos sacrifice fly plated Howie Kendrick as the Halos went up 4-0.

The Twins were finally able to bring a run home against Weaver in the bottom of the fifth, when Denard Span beat out a double-play to plate a run. Pujols got that run back for the Halos in the top of the seventh, on a single that brought Chris Iannetta home.

Minnesota was finally able to significantly cut into the Angels lead in the bottom of the eighth, as a Joe Mauer single and a Ryan Doumit sac fly brough the score to 5-3.

In the top of the ninth, Callaspo picked up another RBI on a single. The wheels came off for the Twins in that inning, as two runs scored while Mark Trumbo reached base on a two-out fielding error, pushing the Angels lead all the way out to 8-3. The Twins went down quietly as Jason Isringhausen recorded the final three outs in the bottom of the ninth.
