Angels Vs. Padres Final Score: Never-Ending Game Ends With 3-2 San Diego Win

The Los Angeles Angels and the San Diego Padres engaged in an extended game of failing to score on Sunday, culminating in a 13-inning, 3-2 win for the hometown Padres and a series loss for the Halos.

The Angels scored in the top of the first, when Mark Trumbo doubled home Mike Trout. In the top of the fifth, the Halos went up 2-0 on a solo home run by Trout, his fourth homer of the season.

In the bottom of the fifth, however, the Padres would tie things up on a two-run double by Yonder Alonso. The scoring would stall out there, despite plentiful chances by both teams. The game headed to extra innings and then some, as both teams looked punchless for hours.

Finally, in the bottom of the 13th inning, Clayton Richard hit a two-out single. Will Venable then worked the count full, enabling Richard to take off with the pitch. Venable roped a single to Howie Kendrick in left field, who bobbled the ball just long enough for Richard to score and give the Padres the win in the rubber game of the three-game series.

Trout had a three-hit game and Kendrick and Erick Aybar each picked up two hits. Albert Pujols was 0-for-4 with two walks.

Angels starter Ervin Santana had a quality start, but couldn't get enough run support. Santana allowed two runs on six hits and two walks over six innings of work, striking out six Padres batters along the way.
