Angels Vs. White Sox Final Score: Albert Pujols Homers Again In 6-1 Loss

Albert Pujols hit his third home run of the year and his second in as many days, but the Los Angeles Angels could muster no additional offense in a 6-1 loss to the visiting Chicago White Sox on Thursday.

The White Sox struck first, scoring on an RBI single by A.J. Pierzynski in the top of the third inning. The Sox added three more runs in the top of the fourth on RBI hits by Adam Dunn and Paul Konerko.

The Halos finally got on the board with the Pujols solo shot in the bottom of the sixth inning, but would get no closer than 4-1. Dayan Viciedo got the run back with his own homer in the top of the eighth inning, his sixth of the season. The damage could have been worse, but Vernon Wells climbed the wall in left field to rob Gordon Beckham of a two-run homer just a few batters later.

The Angels bullpen once again proved to be a problem, as David Pauley allowed the home run to Viciedo and gave up three straight singles to start the top of the ninth, culminating in another Pierzynski RBI.

Los Angeles starter C.J. Wilson lasted just 3.2 innings and allowed four runs (one earned) on four hits and six walks. The Halos managed just four hits in the game, fully four of which were from Mark Trumbo, who was 4-for-4 with a double, raising his batting average to .370

The Angels will head into interleague play on Friday having split this short two-game series against Chicago.

Angels Vs. White Sox, Game 1 Final Score: Albert Pujols Hits 2nd Home Run In 7-2 Win

The Los Angeles Angels hosted the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday night. Just a day after firing hitting coach Mickey Hatcher, the Angels offense showed up in spades, including a rare home run from Albert Pujols in a 7-2 victory.

Erick Aybar hit an RBI double in the bottom of the second inning to open the scoring, but the White Sox struck back in the top of the third. Dayan Viciedo hit a solo homer to tie the game and Chicago took the lead with an RBI double by Gordon Beckham.

The Sox lead was short-lived, as in the bottom of the third, Pujols hit a three-run homer; just his second of the year. The Halos took a 4-2 lead and never looked back, tacking on three more insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth on a sacrifice fly from Howie Kendrick and a two-run homer from Vernon Wells.

Chicago had 10 hits in the game but was 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position. The Angels rapped out 12 hits, including three-hit performances by Alberto Callaspo and Mark Trumbo.

Jerome Williams was once again terrific, going eight full innings and allowing 10 hits, but walking none and striking out five. He improves to 4-1 with the win.

The Angels will go for the two-game sweep on Thursday.
