C.J. Wilson Will Start Saturday Against Rangers After Lasting 0.1 Innings On Friday Night

C.J. Wilson made his return to Arlington on Friday night when he made his first start against his former team. The Los Angeles Angels left-hander had to sit through a lengthy rain delay after warming up and when he finally got into the game in the bottom of the first inning, Wilson threw just 22 pitches before departing in a game that would end up being a blowing win for the Rangers.

Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register reports that Wilson will be getting the start again on Saturday. Angels coach Mike Scioscia stated that Wilson headed back to the team hotel in the middle of Friday's game and the skipper was confident that the pitcher will be able to bounce back in the second game of the series.

Plunkett also relayed this tidbit:

Starters Jered Weaver and Dan Haren both threw bullpen sessions on Friday and Jerome Williams was inserted into the game after Wilson departed to perform 6.2 innings of mop-up duty. Wilson starting on Saturday will allow all other pitchers to stay on their normal rotation. Weaver and Haren will both pitch on five days of rest.
