Angels Vs. Rays, Game 3 Final Score: Halos Swept With 4-3 Walk-Off Loss

On Thursday, the Los Angeles Angels played the final game of their three-game series against the Tampa Bay Rays and were attempting to avoid being swept on the road by a solid Rays team. Unfortunately, despite a two-run lead at one point, the Halos could not prevent the sweep and were ushered out of town in walk-off fashion by a final score of 4-3.

Tampa Bay got on top right away in the bottom of the first, as they scored on a Ben Zobrist RBI double. In the top of the fifth, the Halos tied things up with a leadoff Mark Trumbo homer, his third of the year. Trumbo would put the Angels ahead with an RBI double in the top of the sixth and came home on a Vernon Wells single, to push the Angels lead to 3-1.

The Rays got one of those runs back in the bottom of the sixth on a Matt Joyce RBI triple. The Angels held a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the ninth. After Scott Downs recorded the first out, Jordan Walden came in to pitch. He gave up a single to B.J. Upton and a walk-off home run to Brandon Allen.

Albert Pujols finally snapped a hitless streak in the sixth inning. Pujols was 0-for-19 heading into the game and finished the day 1-for-4, hitting a single but being easily thrown out at second attempting to stretch it into a double.

Angels starter Jerome Williams takes a no decision in this one, as he gave up just two runs in seven innings of work, on five hits and three walks, with six strikeouts. His ERA lowers to 5.51
