The Angels are 13-2-3 against the Dodgers in Freeway Series games since 2004.
With the Arizona portion of their spring training schedule now over, the Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Angels return to their Southern California homes this week for the annual Freeway Series. The three-game exhibition series gets underway Monday night in Anaheim.
Ted Lilly would have likely started Monday for the Dodgers but the left-hander, who hasn't pitched since March 21 in a minor league game, will begin the season on the disabled list. Lilly had neck stiffness that caused him to miss two starts, and is now fine, but has fallen behind and needs to build up arm strength. He will throw a simulated game Monday, followed by a rehab game with Class A Rancho Cucamonga on April 8, with the hopes of starting for the Dodgers on April 14.
Jamey Wright will start Monday for the Dodgers in what will essentially be a bullpen game.
Dan Haren gets the call for the Angels on Monday, making his final spring tuneup before his scheduled Saturday start against the Royals in Anaheim. Haren has been magnificent in the Cactus League, going 2-0 with a 2.18 ERA with 20 strikeouts and just two walks in 21 innings.
Monday's game, as well as Wednesday's afternoon contest at Dodger Stadium, will be televised by the Angels' broadcast crew on Fox Sports West. Tuesday night will be televised by Prime Ticket, with Vin Scully behind the microphone from Dodger Stadium.
