Angels Vs. Yankees Final Score: Halos Drop 3rd Stright Series With 11-5 Loss In New York

The Los Angeles Angels picked up a win on Saturday afternoon against the New York Yankees and were hoping to pick up a series win on Sunday during a game televised nationally on ESPN on Jackie Robinson Day. Things did not quite go the Halos' way, however, as they wound up taking the loss and dropping their third straight series to start the 2012 season. The Angels fell behind early and lost by a final score of 11-5.

The Angels got on the board first, with a solo home run by Mark Trumbo in the top of the second inning. Their lead would be short-lived, however, as Raul Ibanez hit an RBI single in the bottom of the second to tie things up.

The bottom of the third inning saw the Yankees extend their lead to 5-1. A three-run home run by Derek Jeter in the fourth stretched that lead all the way to 8-1.

Los Angeles gained back some ground with a two-run homer by Chris Iannetta in the fifth, a Maicer Izturis RBI double in the sixth and an Albert Pujols RBI single in the seventh, cutting the Yankees lead to 8-5. Unfortunately, the Yankees answered right back with three runs in the bottom of the seventh, with a Nick Swisher RBI and a two-run homer by Raul Ibanez.

Starter Jerome Williams had an extremely rough outing in his first start of the year. He gave up five earned runs in just 2.2 innings, on five hits and three walks. Each of the four Halos pitchers used in the game gave up at least one earned run.
