Angels Spring Training 2012: Halos Take Two From Rangers

The Los Angeles Angels traded home games with the Texas Rangers on Saturday and Sunday as their time in Arizona and Spring Training winds down. They were victorious in both Cactus League games, which both ended up being one-run affairs.

On Saturday, the Angels picked up a 3-2 win in their away game despite picking up just five hits. Ervin Santana was spectacular for Los Angeles, going five innings with four strikeouts, two hits and just one run, coming on a solo home run by Ian Kinsler in the fifth inning. The difference in the game came in the sixth inning, on RBI hits by Alexi Amarista and Kendrys Morales.

On Sunday, the Angels picked up a 6-5 win in walk-off fashion. The Angels got on the board first with a solo home run by Albert Pujols in the first inning. The Halos carried a two-run lead into the top of the eighth, when Dusty Brown tied it up with a two-run homer. The Angels went back ahead in the bottom of the frame on a two-run shot by Jorge Cantu, but Texas came right back to plate three in the top of the ninth, giving them their first lead of the game. The Angels picked up the win thanks to some lesser-known names. Kole Calhoun singled to drive in Darwin Perez as the tying run, moving Peter Bourjos to second base. The next batter, Randal Grichuk, hit the first pitch he saw through the hole and into left field to plate Bourjos and give the Angels the win.
