Angels Vs. Mariners: Mike Trout Hits Two Home Runs In 13-6 Halos Win

Mike Trout hit two home runs and drove in five runs, leading the Los Angeles Angels to a 13-6 drubbing of the Seattle Mariners Tuesday night at Safeco Field. The Angels kept pace with the Texas Rangers in the American League West, remaining three and a half games out of first place. Jerome Williams got his second win in as many starts for the Halos.

Now 20-year olds hitting two home runs in one game isn't something you see every day. In fact, it has happened just 15 times in the last 30 years, buy a list of guys with names like Ken Griffey, Andruw Jones, Alex Rodriguez, Miguel Cabrera, and others. The only other Angel ever to hit two home runs as a 20-year old (or younger) was Tom Brunansky on April 11, 1981. Like Trout, Brunansky accomplished the feat against the Mariners, in Seattle.

Williams continued his feel-good comeback story, pitching seven innings for the second time in as many starts for the Angels, picking up his second victory. It's easier to pitch when staked to a 12-2 lead by the middle of the fifth inning.

The Angels banged out 13 runs on 12 hits and seven walks. In addition to Trout, both Peter Bourjos and Maicer Izturis had two hits, each with a single and a double. Mark Trumbo singled, walked twice, and scored three runs for the Halos. Dan Haren starts for the Angels Wednesday night in a marquee matchup with Felix Hernandez of Seattle.
