Jered Weaver is the ace pitcher for the Los Angeles Angels. He gets pitiful run support in Anaheim and has only a modest 14-6 record, but his ERA is hovering just over two and his WHIP is a tad bit under one. He is a Cy Young contender, and if Justin Verlander wasn't flat out dominating, he'd probably be the definite favorite.
So it should come as no surprise that the Angels and Weaver's agent Scott Boras came to a deal that'll keep him in Anaheim for the next half-decade.
- The deal is currently reported at five years and $85 million, which will take him through the first four years of free agency.
- There will be a no-trade clause, which will ensure that Weaver won't be getting dealt even if he struggles through a rough patch.
- There will be a press conference on Tuesday to announce the decision.
