Top Prospect Mike Trout Among Angels Non-Roster Invitees To Spring Training

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announced their spring training invitations today, and highly-touted prospect Mike Trout was among the 25 non-roster invitees. Trout, the outfielder who was named the number one prospect in baseball by ESPN's Keith Law earlier this week (and will likely be at or near the top of various other prospect lists as well), will join the Angels in Tempe when spring training begins next month. Pitchers and catchers report for the Angels on February 13, only 16 days away, with the first full workouts on February 14. The voluntary reporting date for position players is February 18, with the first full-squad workout to be held on February 19.

Trout, who hit .341/.428/.490 as an 18-year old across both Class A and advanced Class A in 2010, isn't the only top prospect who will join the Angels in Tempe. Seven of their nine top prospects, as rated by Baseball America, will be in big league camp, including pitcher Tyler Chatwood, second baseman Jean Segura, and pitcher Garret Richards joining Trout as non-roster invitees. All players on the 40-man roster -- 39 in the Angels' case -- begin spring training in big league camp.

Here are the Angels' 25 non-roster invitees:

Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register has the full list of spring training invites for the Angels, including those on the 40-man roster. The Angels open their spring training slate of games on February 26 with a home game against the Dodgers at Tempe Diablo Stadium.
