49ers rely on protecting the ball and forcing turnovers to get the win over the Lions.

The Long Beach St. 49ers pulled out the come-from-behind win over the Loyola Marymount Lions, 72-68, on Thursday night.

The 49ers trailed by six at halftime, but outscored LMU by 10 points in the second half to knock off the Lions in their gym. The 49ers were led by a balanced attack that featured four players in double-figures. Guard Mike Caffey finished with 15 points and five assists while Kris Gulley added a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds. James Ennis added 14 points and seven rebounds. Deng Deng pitched in 13 points off the bench.

The Lions were steadied by Ashley Hamilton (17 points, nine rebounds), Ayodeji Egbeyemi (16 points, 11 rebounds) and C.J. Blackwell (15 points). Egbeyemi and Blackwell combined to hit nine threes.

The 49ers made up for allowing 13 three-pointers by only turning the ball over six times compared to the Lions' 14 turnovers.

The win moved Long Beach to 3-3 on the season while LMU dropped to 3-4.
