The LA Galaxy (2-3-0) hit the road this week, taking on the Colorado Rapids (3-3-0) at Dick's Sporting Goods Park at 6:00 PDT, with a chance to move further up the Western Conference standings. After last week's victory propelled the Galaxy out of the Western Conference cellar and past the Portland Timbers, now they have a chance to join the middle of the pack with a victory over mid-table Colorado.
David Beckham ended up on the Goal of the Week shortlist after his screaming bender last Saturday. That long range strike to close out the 3-1 victory over the Timbers was his first goal in open play since October 2010. Both of Beckham's goals last year in league play came directly from set pieces, though he did have an open play going in the CONCACAF Champions League tournament.
Also standing out last match was 23 year old Brazilian Juninho, who once again tallied a goal from outside the 18 yard box. Of Juninho's nine MLS career goals, eight have come from outside the 18 yard box. The goal was Juninho's first of the 2012 campaign.
Meanwhile, the Colorado Rapids are overjoyed to be back in Commerce City, Colorado. They were shut out in consecutive games, and lost three straight on the road. The Rapids are 2-0-0 at home this year.
