The defending MLS Cup champion LA Galaxy open their Western Conference semifinal matchup against the San Jose Earthquakes on Sunday night with the first leg of a two-game aggregate matchup. The second leg will be held Wednesday night in San Jose, but for now here are the relevant details of Sunday's first leg.

What: 2012 MLS playoffs, Western Conference semifinals, first of two legs

Who: LA Galaxy (16-12-6, 54 points; fourth in Western Conference); San Jose Earthquakes (19-6-9, 66 points; first in West)

When: 6 p.m. PT

Where: Home Depot Center in Carson

TV: ESPN

Streaming: Watch ESPN

Expert's Take: From Josie Becker at LAG Confidential:

San Jose are going to let the Galaxy play their possession heavy game, and take all the chances they want. This is because they know how they want to play, and aren't so much concerned with adjusting to what their opponent wants to do. They'll keep sending long balls toward (Chris) Wondolowski expect him to figure it out and put one in the back of the net.

So the task is simple then; stop Wondolowski and win the match. It's just, y'know, not that easy.
