Ducks Offseason 2012: Teemu Selanne Inks One-Year Deal With Anaheim

The Anaheim Ducks wasted little time when trying to re-sign right winger Teemu Selanne after it was announced on Thursday that the Ducks have indeed signed him for a one-year contract, keeping him in Anaheim at least through next season. Per the Ducks via Helene Elliot's twitter account, the deal is worth $4.5 million.

At 42, Selanne remained a very productive part of the Ducks squad after scoring 26 goals and 40 assists for a total 66 points last season, along with 50 penalty minutes in 82 games with the Ducks. He led the team in scoring and power play points (28), ranked second in power play goals (12), assists, and shots (210), and tied for second in game-winning goals (4) as well.

Selanne did not miss a single game in 2011-12, becoming the oldest played in NHL history (41 years, 279 days at end of season) to appear in all 82 games in a regular season.

When asked about the deal, Selanne noted that he certainly has enough left in the tank and is grateful to get the chance to continue his career in Anaheim.

"I still feel I can play at a high level," said Selanne. "As I always say, this is my happy place and I can't wait to get back on the ice in front of our great fans."
