Derick Brassard scored with 1:05 remaining in extra period, giving the Columbus Blue Jackets a 3-2 overtime victory over the Anaheim Ducks Friday night at Honda Center. It was the second goal of the game for Brassard and snapped a six-game losing streak for Columbus (15-32-6), the owners of the worst record in the NHL.
Curtis Sanford saved 33 of 35 shots for the win for Columbus. Hiller saved 18 of 21 shots for Anaheim (19-25-8).
Teemu Selanne got the Ducks on the board early, scoring just 1:46 into the game, assisted by Lubomir Visnovsky and Luca Sbisa. After Brassard tied the game for Columbus with his eighth goal of the season at 14:47 of the second period, Selanne gave the Ducks the lead again with a goal just over two minutes later, this one on the power play from Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf.
Jeff Carter tied the game for the Blue Jackets at 2:05 of the third period with an unassisted power play goal.
Selanne leads Anaheim with 49 points this season, and is third on the team with 19 goals scored. The Ducks have the rest of the weekend off before hosting the Calgary Flames at Honda Center in Anaheim on Monday night.
