Ducks Vs. Blackhawks: Anaheim Falls In 3-2 Shootout To Open Road Trip

Patrick Kane beat Jonas Hiller with a backhand shot in the final shootout attempt, lifting the Chicago Blackhawks to a 3-2 shootout win over the Anaheim Ducks Tuesday night at United Center in Chicago. The Ducks have lost three straight games, though they did pick up a point with Tuesday's overtime defeat.

The Ducks are 1-1 in shootouts this season. Hiller saved 33 of 35 shots on goal during regulation and overtime.

Teemu Selanne scored at 16:22 of the second period to give the Ducks a 2-1 lead. It was the third goal of the season for the 41-year old Selanne, and the 640th goal of his career, tying him with Dave Andreychuk for 13th place on the all-time NHL list. It was the 413th goal with Anaheim for Selanne, who is the Ducks' all-time franchise leader in games, goals, assists, and points.

Selanne had the Ducks' only successful shot in the shootout, sandwiched in between misses by Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf. Jonathan Toews had the other successful shootout goal for Chicago.

Getzlaf scored the Ducks' first goal, 58 seconds into the second period to give Anaheim a 1-0 lead. It was his third goal of the season. The Ducks head next to Minnesota to battle the Wild on Thursday night in the second game of their seven-game road trip.
