The Stars won their fifth game in a row, ending the Ducks' four-game win streak by beating Anaheim 3-1 on Friday night. Dallas' Loui Eriksson scored only 13 seconds in and Mike Ribeiro scored midway through the first as well, and the Stars cruised from there. Goaltender Kari Lehtonen made 35 saves.
The Ducks didn't get on the scoreboard until the closing moments of the second period, on a Corey Perry powerplay goal that closed the gap to 2-1. Early in the third though, the Stars put the game away with another Eriksson goal. The Stars go to 6-1-0 for their best start since the 2006-07 season. They sit atop the Pacific Division with 12 points. The Ducks fall to 4-2, third in the division with 8 points.
