Ducks Recall Syvret After Mikkelson Claimed By Calgary

Stay connected for news and updates

After defenseman Brendan Mikkelson was claimed yesterday by the Calgary Flames, the Anaheim Ducks recalled defeseman Danny Syvret from the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL, the club announced.

Arthur from Anaheim Calling analyzed yesterday's roster moves:

Mikkelson struggled in the preseason and season, though he did play key time on the penalty kill and at even strength, perhaps as a prelude to making him available on the waiver wire.  Syvret was on the ice to practice with the Ducks in Columbus today according to Helene Elliott's Twitter, but he, too, struggled in his time with the Ducks before hitting the waiver wire.  It is unclear how much Anaheim will use him as the 7th defenseman on the upcoming road trip, especially with the team still trying to break in defensemen Toni Lydman and Andreas Lilja.
