2013 NBA All-Star Weekend: Lakers, Clippers will be well represented

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

The Clippers and Lakers will be well represented when the 2013 NBA All-Star Weekend begins in Houston.

The Clippers and Lakers had vastly different first halves of the season, but both teams will be well represented during NBA All-Star Weekend. The two teams will combine for four of the five starters on the Western Conference team.

The major festivities begin Friday with the Rising Stars Challenge, although neither the Lakers nor Clippers will have a participant. Clippers point guard Eric Bledsoe will be in the spotlight on Saturday when he is one of six participants in the slam dunk contest. The dunk contest will be the final event of NBA All-Star Saturday Night, which is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. PT. The event will be televised on TNT.

Sunday's All-Star game will cap off the weekend with Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard joining Chris Paul and Blake Griffin in the starting lineup for the Western Conference. Bryant will be making his 15th All-Star appearance to lead the way for the West starters. Chris Paul will make his sixth appearance while Blake Griffin will play in his third All-Star game. Dwight Howard is an All-Star for the seventh time, but the first in the Western Conference. Sunday's game will begin at 5 p.m. PT and will be televised on TNT.
