Gary Sacks has been promoted internally to become the new vice president of basketball operations for the Los Angeles Clippers.

Gary Sacks has been promoted internally to become the new vice president of basketball operations for the Los Angeles Clippers. The announcement was made by the Clippers organization on Tuesday.

Since general manager Neil Olshey left the Clippers in June to go run the Portland Trail Blazers in a similar fashion, Sacks has been working with head coach Vinny Del Negro and team president Andy Roeser to manage personnel moves for the Clippers this offseason, including moves to get Jamal Crawford, Grant Hill, and Lamar Odom.

Sacks has been with the Clippers for nearly two decades. He has been in charge of team scouting as the director of player personnel, and has held various responsibilities in the organization through the past 19 years. He has worked in statistical analytics, salary cap work, evaluating draft prospects, preparing and editing game film, and sorting out information for the draft and free agency.
