In a weekend of upsets for Pac-12 football teams over ranked opponents, Los Angeles native Johnathan Franklin was huge for the UCLA Bruins. The senior running back rushed for a career high of 217 yards and added 59 receiving yards and a touchdown as the Bruins stunned No. 16 Nebraska Saturday. The performance earned him his second straight Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week honor.
Franklin became the seventh Bruin to eclipse the 3,000-yard rushing mark and moved into seventh place on UCLA's all-time rushing list. Through two games in the 2012 season, Franklin is the NCAA's leading rusher, averaging 215.5 yards per game.
UCLA (2-0) has wins over Rice and Nebraska.
Defensive end Datone Jones was a nominee for the conference's Defensive Player of the Week award, which went to Oregon State linebacker D.J. Welch.
