Dodgers Vs. Rockies Game Recap: A.J. Ellis, Hanley Ramirez Lead The Way To 10-8 Victory

A.J. Ellis and Hanley Ramirez both homered, Joe Blanton pitched more than seven innings, and the Los Angeles Dodgers avoided being swept by the Colorado Rockies by the score of 10-8 at Coors Field.

Blanton (9-12) lasted 7.1 innings on the night, allowing just three of the Rockies' runs on 10 hits. L.A. had a 10-1 lead in the eighth inning until reliever Shawn Tolleson was tagged for four runs and Randy Choate another, but would turn out just fine thanks to some potent Dodger offense in the Mile High City.

A.J. Ellis finished 2-4 with four RBI, including his 11th homer of the year, while Andre Ethier and Juan Rivera each finished 2-4, as well. Ramirez was 1-5, but that one came in the form of a two-run shot in the third inning, scoring Adrian Gonzalez.

Despite the 10 runs, L.A. was just 3-10 with runners in scoring position.

The Dodgers now head home for a three-game set with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Dodgers Place Scott Elbert On DL, Recall Shawn Tolleson

The Los Angeles Dodgers announced on Wednesday that they have placed lefty Scott Elbert on the 15-day disabled list with elbow inflammation in his throwing arm and recalled right-handed pitcher Shawn Tolleson from Single-A Rancho Cucamonga.

Elbert has been solid since his last stint on the DL, which ended Aug. 19. He made four appearances while allowing no runs during that span, and is 1-1 with a 2.20 ERA in 43 games for L.A. this season.

As for Tolleson, he's held opponents scoreless in 13 of his last 14 outings (13.0 IP), posting a1.38 ERA since July 24. He also has kept opposing hitters in check with a .186 batting average, with an even more impressive .106 BA against righties. Tolleson is 1-0 with a 3.42 ERA in 25 appearances for the Dodgers. He last saw action this past Sunday against the Marlins, allowing two runs in 1.1 innings of work.

Dodgers Vs. Rockies Starting Lineup: Matt Kemp Sits, Shane Victorino Starts In CF

Dodgers Vs. Rockies Game Preview: Joe Blanton Looks To Snap Losing Streak

The Dodgers will look to salvage the finale of a three-game series against the Rockies on Wednesday afternoon at Coors Field. Colorado defeated newly acquired Los Angeles starter Josh Beckett in the first game, before prevailing 8-4 on Tuesday.

Joe Blanton will be on the mound for the Dodgers to try and stop their losing streak at three. Blanton is 8-12 with a 5.02 ERA this season. He may have trouble in the thin air of Coors Field, as he has allowed 26 home runs in 154.1 innings pitched.

The Rockies counter with Drew Pomeranz. The left-hander is 1-7 with a 4.78 ERA in 15 starts. Pomeranz has not reached the end of the sixth inning in any start since July 6, a stretch that spans eight appearances.

Dodgers CF Matt Kemp is expected to miss today's game after he suffered a right knee contusion and a jaw injury on Tuesday. Kemp was injured after crashing into the wall in pursuit of a triple by the Rockies' Josh Rutledge.

Game time is set for 12:10 p.m. PT.

Matt Kemp Injury: Kemp Expected To Miss At Least One Game

Los Angeles Dodges outfielder Matt Kemp is expected to miss at least one game after he left Tuesday's game in the first inning following a collision with the center field wall.

Kemp suffered a right knee contusion and a jaw injury, but he did not have concussion-like symptoms. He is expected to undergo an MRI on his knee and a CAT scan on his jaw Monday night. Those tests will determine how severe the injuries are and whether or not Kemp will miss significant time.

Neither injury appeared to be significant and while Kemp may be out Wednesday, he will likely be considered day-to-day and could be back in the lineup before the weekend.

Dodgers Vs. Rockies Game Recap: Chris Capuano Struggles In 8-4 Loss

The Dodgers lost again on Tuesday night, falling to the last-place Rockies by a score of 8-4. With the Giants coming back to win in the ninth inning in their game, L.A. now sits 3.5 games back in the National League West.

Chris Capuano made the start for the Dodgers and was not sharp. He ended up tossing six innings of six-run ball, surrendering 10 hits. He struck out three and did not walk a batter.

Colorado's Tyler Chatwood worked around a bit of trouble in his five innings on the mound, although he pitched well enough to earn the win. Chatwood surrendered two runs on five hits and three walks, striking out four.

The Rockies scored four runs in the first. Jordan Pacheco doubled home a run to get things going at 1-0. Wilin Rosario singled to drive home another run, as did Andrew Brown. DJ LeMahieu capped off the first with an RBI double to center field to make it 4-0.

A.J. Ellis plated a run for the Dodgers with a sacrifice fly in the second inning. Colorado promptly responded in the third though, this time with a solo homer off the bat of Rosario.

The Dodgers had a couple of chances in the eighth and ninth innings, but they were unable to overcome the 8-2 deficit.

Juan Rivera drove home Mark Ellis with a sac fly in the eighth, and Hanley Ramirez hit a solo homer in the ninth to make it 8-4. Adam Kennedy drew a one-out walk following Ramirez's homer, but L.A. was unable to do anything else with the baserunner as Rafael Betancourt recorded the final two outs.

The two clubs will meet again Wednesday afternoon at 12:10 p.m.

Matt Kemp Injury: Right Knee Contusion, But No Concussion For Dodgers CF

The Los Angeles Dodgers received a scare on Tuesday night as Matt Kemp left the game in the first inning. Kemp remained down for a while after lunging forward to catch a bloop in right-center field, prompting manager Don Mattingly and team trainers to come out and check on him.

There were concerns that Kemp had suffered a concussion on the play, although a series of tests have determined the All-Star outfielder did not suffer such a thing. Instead, Kemp has a right knee contusion.

No timetable has been set for Kemp's return, although he is not expected to miss much time at all. He may be sore and need to sit out a day or two, but a trip to the disabled list is not expected as of late Tuesday evening.

L.A. currently trails the Rockies by a score of 8-4 in the ninth inning.

Matt Kemp Injury: Dodgers CF Leaves Game After Crashing Into Wall

Los Angeles Dodgers CF Matt Kemp was injured after crashing into the wall in the first inning of Tuesday's game against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field. He sustained the injury chasing after a triple by the Rockies' Josh Rutledge. Kemp was removed from the game two batters later.

Juan Rivera entered the game in left field for Kemp as Shane Victorino moved over to center field.

If Kemp is lost for an extended period of time, it would be a big blow to the Dodgers' lineup. Kemp is batting .337 with 17 home runs and 54 RBI in 78 games this season. He has already spent time on the disabled list in 2012.

Dodgers Vs. Rockies Starting Lineups: Dodgers Look To Bounce Back In Colorado

The Dodgers are looking to bounce back from a 10-0 drubbing at the hands of the Rockies last night, and they'll hope do it without left-fielder Shane Victorino in the lead-off spot.

The Dodgers fell flat on their face in recently-acquired Josh Beckett's debut last night, managing to scratch out only four hits against soft-tossing lefty Jeff Francis and the Rockies bullpen.

Victorino, who has led off every game he's started since he was traded from the Philadelphia Phillies, has been struggling of late, hitting just .200 over his last 10 games with an on-base-percentage of .273. The Dodgers will need more out of the lead off spot if they hope to catch the San Francisco Giants, who they head into tonight's action trailing by 2.5 games in the NL.

Game time is 5:40 p.m. PT and the game will be televised on KCAL.

Dodgers Vs. Rockies Game Preview: L.A. Looks To Snap 2-Game Skid

The Los Angeles Dodgers look to get back on track Tuesday night as they face the Colorado Rockies in the second meeting of a three-game series at Coors Field. Josh Beckett made his first start for the Dodgers on Monday and it didn't go well, as the Rockies won easily, 10-0.

L.A. will send will send Chris Capuano to the mound to try and turn the tide. The left-hander holds an 11-9 record with a 3.37 ERA. Capuano struggled in his previous outing, giving up six runs in five innings in a loss to the Giants.

The Rockies counter with right-hander Tyler Chatwood. He will be making his 13th appearance and sixth start of the season. Chatwood has a 3-3 record with a 4.98 ERA.

The Dodgers are trying to catch the Giants in the NL West race. Coming into Tuesday, L.A. is 2.5 games back. The Rockies are well out of contention, 18.5 games behind.

Dodgers Vs. Rockies Game Recap: L.A. Blanked by Colorado 10-0

Josh Beckett's first start for the Dodgers didn't have the same Hollywood magic as teammate Adrian Gonzalez's home run debut. The newly acquired starting pitcher lasted only 5.2 innings, giving up seven hits and three runs in Los Angeles' 10-0 loss to the Colorado Rockies.

Beckett wasn't helped by his teammates in their four-hit performance against Rockies starter Jeff Francis. Francis gave up only three hits, and the bullpen gave up just one.

Shane Victorino and Matt Kemp accounted for two of the four Dodger hits, while the other big bats in Andre Ethier and the aforementioned Gonzalez went 0-for-3.

Luckily for the Dodgers, the NL West first place San Fransisco Giants lost 7-1 to the Atlanta Braves tonight, keeping L.A. at 2.5 games behind. Yet that win by Atlanta keeps the Dodgers at the same 2.5 games behind for one of the two Wild Card seats currently held by the Braves and St. Louis Cardinals.

Dodgers Recall Josh Wall From Triple A, Option Shawn Tolleson

The Los Angeles Dodgers have recalled reliever Josh Wall from Triple A Albuquerque and have optioned Shawn Tolleson to Single A Rancho Cucamonga.

Wall, an all-PCL performer, is making his second stint with the Dodgers in 2012. He debuted with LA against New York on July 22nd, pitching one scoreless inning. That was his only appearance before Monday. Since Wall was sent back down, he has a 1.98 ERA in 14 appearances. The former second-round pick was leading the PCL in saves with 27.

Tolleson had been pitching well in spurts for the Dodgers, including an 11.2 IP scoreless streak from July 24 to Aug. 24 that spanned 13 relief appearances. He struggled in his last appearance before being sent down, allowing two home runs on Sunday.
