On the Dan Patrick Show on Wednesday when asked about the new-look Lakers, he responded:
"Why should I be [nervous]? At the end of the day, you have to play the games. When we got to the Olympics, if you looked at our roster, you could've just given us the medal but you have to play the games and that's what makes it so exciting."
Paul could have joined forces with Bryant and Co. given the trade that never came to fruition due to NBA intervention involving Pau Gasol and former Sixth Man of the Year turned disgruntled role-player, Lamar Odom.
But instead, he will prepare to continue the newly-intensified inner-city rivalry that has been revitalized in Los Angeles as he recovers from thumb surgery. The battle for L.A. is alive and well, and it will make for some exciting basketball in 2012-2013.
