Zack Greinke Continues Struggling, Angels Fading In American League West

The Los Angeles Angels added the best pitcher on the market, Zack Greinke, leading up to the trade deadline at the end of July. Many felt the addition of Greinke would be just what the club needed to propel themselves to the top of the American League West, but they have done anything but that the last few weeks.

As Greinke struggled again on Sunday afternoon, many are starting to wonder if one of the deadline's biggest deals is turning into one of the worst.

Since his first start on July 29 -- a span of five starts for the Halos -- Greinke is 1-2 with an ERA of 6.18.

Anaheim was 55-46 on the day they officially acquired the right-handed ace, four games back of the Texas Rangers in the AL West. After losing again on Sunday, the Angels sit nine games back and have a record of 62-60.

Simply put, the club offered up numerous top prospects for a player they thought could lead them to a playoff birth. Greinke has done anything but that on the mound, and now the team has completely fallen off and will need a miraculous run in September to make the postseason.
