16 days and hundreds of events after it began, the 2012 Olympic Games in London has finally come to an end. After Sunday's last few events, the United States finished up with 104 total medals and 46 gold medals; those last two coming in wrestling and an exciting men's basketball win over Spain to repeat in that event.
The next-closest country was China, with 87 gold medals and 46 gold medals. The U.S. had been slugging it out with China for much of the two weeks before finally opening up a lead over the weekend.
- United States, 104 (46 gold, 29 silver, 29 bronze)
- China, 87 (38, 27, 22)
- Russia, 82 (24, 25, 33)
- Great Britain, 65 (29, 17, 19)
- Germany, 44 (11, 19, 14)
